What is the Conversation Café?

Conversation Café is a weekly event for Harrow residents. We offer face-to-face support focused on Social Care, unpaid Carers and improving health and wellbeing.

Our aim is to raise awareness of local services and empower residents to better manage their own health and wellbeing, leading to improved outcomes.

Who Can Attend?

Conversation Café and Citizens Advice Bureau Harrow can support Harrow residents who are:

  • Disabled
  • Unpaid carers
  • Pensioners
  • Living with ongoing health conditions

How we can help

We offer support with:

  • Accessing health and wellbeing information and advice
  • Navigating Adult Social Care
  • Supporting unpaid carers
  • Understanding disability benefits
  • Setting up My Harrow Accounts
  • Information and referrals to local charities and voluntary organisations
  • Accessing health checks

We are unable to assist with:

  • Housing applications
  • Universal Credit
  • Locata
  • Appeals
  • Legal issues or disputes

Our team can help you get online to apply for disability and carer-related benefits, but we cannot complete applications on your behalf.

Important Information

  • Support is available to Harrow residents only. Proof of address is required at all venues.
  • All participants and visitors must follow the Conversation Café Code of Conduct.
  • All venues are fully accessible. Free parking is available at St Peter’s Church.

Citizens Advice Bureau at Conversation Café

The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) attends:

  • St Peter’s Church: Every Tuesday, 10:30am – 1:30pm
  • North Harrow Community Library: Every Wednesday, 2:30pm – 4:30pm

Please note: Citizens Advice at Conversation Café can only see people who do not already have an ‘open case’ with them. If you have an ongoing issue that is already being dealt with by Citizens Advice then you will need to liaise directly with the Citizens Advice Bureau 

Do you need help to access online services?

If you are disabled, an unpaid carer, a pensioner or have a long term / ongoing health condition and need support accessing health and wellbeing information, we’re here to help!

We have: 

  • Laptops available
  • Friendly volunteers (where possible)
  • A safe and supportive environment

No appointment is needed, just come along to one of our events at:

  • St Peter’s Church: Every Tuesday, 10:30am – 1:30pm
  • North Harrow Community Library: Every Wednesday, 2:30pm – 4:30pm

Once a month, we host a ‘Bigger Conversation’ event with a different wellbeing theme.

Fancy a Cuppa with a Copper?

The Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team will be joining us for informal chats over tea or coffee.

Additional Support

Housing, Benefits, and Council Tax:

  • If you are homeless or at risk of losing your home, please visit the Housing Needs Team at The Gayton Road Centre, Sheldon House, Gayton Road, Harrow HA1 2FB, or call 020 8424 1093.
  • Council tenants and leaseholders can attend our housing drop-in sessions to speak with Housing Officers and the Repairs Team. For details, see Housing Resident Involvement.

The Conversation Café

Unpaid carers can visit us in person every Tuesday. Have a cup of tea and ask us any questions you may have. Our team will be there to offer advice and support.
