Homelessness

If you are concerned about becoming homeless or have been made homeless that day, call Housing Advice 0208 424 1093 (option 1). This is the quickest way to access support and advice that the Council can provide.  

You will be assessed over the phone by the Duty Officer. If assessed as eligible and priority need, interim accommodation may be provided, over 95% of all cases are dealt with over the phone.

If you have been served with an Eviction Notice, please complete the webform as soon as possible or call the Housing Advice line if your impending eviction is within 5 days.  The Duty Officer will assess your case and allocate a Case Officer, depending on your circumstances.

The Gayton Road centre is where some staff in social care and Housing Needs are based. In the small number of cases where an appointment is needed, these will take place at Gayton Road.

The Duty Officer you speak to will advise as to whether or not a face-to-face appointment is needed.

If you do not have access to a telephone then you can access a telephone at Gayton Road

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

What help can you get at Gayton Road

Services are only provided at Gayton Road for people who:

  • are extremely vulnerable and are at risk of homelessness
  • don’t have the knowledge of how to access or use the internet and are at risk of homelessness
  • are fleeing domestic abuse
  • are rough sleeping and have no access to a phone
  • are concerned about the welfare of a child
  • are concerned about the welfare of a vulnerable adult
  • have an appointment with a social worker
