Role and responsibilities
Role
The Mayor is the First Citizen of the London Borough of Harrow.
The Mayor's office is apolitical and he represents the council at civic and ceremonial events. His attendance at events can add to their importance.
His responsibilities include:
- attending many different types of functions throughout Harrow.
- chairing Full Council meetings, to keep order and ensure relevant constitutional provisions are adhered to.
- hosting Citizenship Ceremonies and visits to the Mayor's Parlour from various organisations including pupils from local schools.
- acting as host to distinguished visitors, including national representatives of various organisations and foreign visitors, especially those from our twin town of Douai, France.
