How long will it take to assess my application?
We aim to process new claims within 25 days of receiving your application and supporting documents.
Paying your council tax while you are waiting for your claim to be assessed
You should continue to pay your council tax as billed while you are waiting for your claim to be assessed. Making a claim does not allow you to withhold payment of the council tax owing in the meantime.
What happens after my claim has been assessed?
If you qualify for council tax support, your entitlement will be added to your council tax account. You will receive a revised bill with the support added. You will then need to pay according to the new bill.
When will I receive the payment?
If you qualify for council tax support your full entitlement will be paid directly to your council tax account and you will be sent a revised council tax bill. You will then need to pay according to the new bill.
What should I do if I disagree with your decision?
If you disagree with our decision regarding your council tax support, you can dispute the decision.
