Conservation areas and Article 4

Pinner conservation areas

The Pinner Conservation Areas Supplementary Document (SPD) was adopted in December 2009.

The SPD provides a general view of the challenges that affect conservation areas, and offer advice on how to protect and improve them.

The SPD has 12 appendices of conservation area appraisals and management strategies. These give guidance on the special character and appearance of each conservation area. In addition they provide ways to preserve and enhance their character, which are listed below. Permitted development rights in a conservation area already differ somewhat to those outside a conservation area.

The list also has maps of each conservation area and information on any Article 4 Directions if they apply in that area.

Article 4 directions withdraw the right to carry out certain works without planning permission.
