The fostering role

Being a foster carer is much more than providing a temporary home to a child or young person. Harrow foster carers protect, support and care for children and young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Foster carers help them grow and develop.

Here are some of the things that we need our foster carers to do:

  • provide support
  • attend meetings and manage information
  • manage behaviour
  • promote contact with families
  • manage relationships
  • commit time and energy
  • develop skills
  • work in a team
  • receive training
