VAWG Strategy 2023-26
London Borough of Harrow and the Safer Harrow Partnership is dedicated to tackling all forms of VAWG as part of our shared commitment to making Harrow a [clean and] safe borough and supporting the most vulnerable.
Our Community Safety Strategy 2023-26 sets out how we will work with partners to end all forms of VAWG, support survivors, prioritise prevention and address perpetrators. Read the full strategy.
Directory of support services
As a professional, you may come across people experiencing domestic abuse or VAWG. It is important to seek the right support and refer to the appropriate agency when needed. Please use our directory of support services for a full list.
Our local domestic abuse commissioned service is Cranstoun. You can find all their details and make referrals to them here.
Domestic Abuse Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
DA MARAC is a meeting designed to reduce the risk of serious harm or homicide, faced by high-risk victims/survivors of domestic abuse.
Key agencies in the borough meet fortnightly to share information on Harrow’s highest risk cases of domestic abuse. An action plan is created to reduce the risk to the victims/survivors, and their families. These meetings also consider the perpetrator and explore what intervention is available to address their behaviour.
The victim does not attend the meeting and the perpetrator of abuse should not be informed of the MARAC referral.
In Harrow, this is coordinated by Cranstoun, our local domestic abuse commissioned service.
To see the full referral criteria and make a referral, download the referral form from Cranstoun’s website here. Completed forms should be emailed to: harrowmarac@cranstoun.org.uk.cjsm.net (for CJSM accounts only) or password protected to: harrowmarac@cranstoun.org.uk
If you are unsure if the case meets the criteria, you can also email for guidance or queries.
Training
VAWG training for people that work or volunteer in Harrow are available on SS4E. These include the topics of domestic abuse, risk assessing and DA MARAC, and are free to attend.
16 Days of Activism
Every November and December, London Borough of Harrow supports White Ribbon Day on 25 November, which also marks the beginning of the UN’s 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, running until 10 December.
This campaign raises awareness about gender-based violence and promotes gender equality. To support the campaign, each year we organise events for professionals and residents. Keep an eye out for upcoming plans.
