Duty social worker

If you are worried about a child, contact the duty social worker. They are available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Social services (out of hours)

The emergency duty social worker is available weekdays 5pm - 9am. They are also available all weekend and on Bank holidays.

Make an online referral

You can make a referral to the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) online to raise a request or concern about:

  • a child in need
  • a child likely to suffer significant harm
  • a child currently suffering significant harm

Before you start the form, please note:

  • if the child is in immediate danger call the Police, 999. You can complete the referral form later after the child's immediate safety is addressed
  • it is important that as much information as possible is provided in the first instance on the form.
  • if you are a professional, you should inform any child protection leads in your organisation about the referral, but do not delay sending the form if the child protection lead is not available.

What happens after making an online referral

After you submit an online referral form, the MASH team will:

  • confirm receipt of the referral
  • review any information you give and may contact you if they need more information.

The emergency duty social worker is available weekdays 5pm – 9am. They are also available all weekend and on Bank holidays. If a crime has been committed or you have immediate concerns about the safety of any adults at risk, 999. For a non-emergency call 101.
