How to register a death
To register a death, you need to contact the borough where the death occurred. If the death took place:
- in Harrow, you need to make an appointment to register the death at the Harrow register office
- in Brent, you will need to contact Brent Council's Registration Service - please note that Northwick Park Hospital is in Brent.
Usually you will need to register a death within 5 days. The person best qualified to register a death is a relative of the deceased. However, if this is not possible then please contact our register office for further advice. The death cannot be registered without first obtaining a medical certificate showing the cause of death, which is issued either by:
- a hospital
- the certifying doctor
