The process and fees differ depending on the type of arrangement you choose.

Purchasing a burial plot

There are currently no new plots available for full (coffin) burials in Harrow cemeteries.

If you are looking to purchase a new grave, the following types are still available: 

  • Cremated Remains Graves are available at Pinner New Cemetery, Harrow Cemetery, Wealdstone Cemetery and Eastcote Lane Cemetery 
  • Children’s Graves are available at Pinner New Cemetery and Harrow Weald Cemetery (Muslim section)
  • Greek Orthodox Graves are available at Pinner New Cemetery (Greek Orthodox section)

How to purchase a burial plot

Contact the Cemeteries Office to discuss availability: 

The Cemeteries Team will confirm what plots are available.

You will be sent an online application form and instructions for paying the relevant fee.

Purchasing a plot outside Harrow

Harrow residents may also apply to use burial plots at Carpenders Park Cemetery (managed by Brent Council). For details, see Brent Cemeteries.


Arranging a burial

If you are arranging a burial or cremation, you will need to: 

  • Register the death with the local register office.
  • Appoint a funeral director
  • Decide whether you need a full burial, burial of cremated remains, or a cremation.

Funeral Director

Most people appoint a funeral director to manage these arrangements, including completing the form, liaising with the Cemeteries Team, and organising the funeral service. 


Arranging a Cremation 

Harrow does not own a crematorium. Residents can use Breakspear Crematorium, located in Ruislip (Hillingdon).

Other Burial Information

Muslim burials 

There are no new Muslim burial plots available in Harrow cemeteries.

Harrow residents can apply to use burial plots at Carpenders Park Cemetery (managed by Brent Council). For details, see Brent Cemeteries.

Greek Orthodox burials

We have Greek Orthodox faith burial plots at Pinner New Cemetery.

Burials on Private Land

It is possible to have a funeral and burial on private land, including your garden. For details, see Burials on private land.

Option to Buy a Grave Space

No new grave spaces are currently available for purchase in Harrow cemeteries.


If you previously bought an option to purchase a grave and it is due to expire within 10 years of the original sale, it cannot be renewed at this time. 

Exclusive Right of Burial

When you buy a grave, you will receive a deed giving you the legal right to bury someone in that grave.


At the time of purchase, you must also buy the memorial rights.
