We have four registered historic parks and gardens of national importance and three locally listed parks and gardens.
These gardens are an important part of the heritage of the borough and environment. The four nationally registered parks and gardens are:
- Grims Dyke, Harrow Weald
- Canons Park, Edgware
- Harrow Park (formerly Flambards) Harrow on the Hill
- Bentley Priory Harrow Weald
Applications for development within registered historic parks and gardens involve input from the Gardens Trust and sometimes Historic England.
Harrow Council has four locally listed parks and gardens which contribute to the character and local heritage of the borough.
Their boundaries and more information about them are available at the following links:
- Bernays Gardens Stanmore
- Pinner Memorial Park (amended description adopted February 2019)
- Harrow Weald Park (adopted February 2016)
- Paines Lane Cemetery (adopted February 2019)
The historic parks and gardens registers have no statutory power, but the gardens are protected through national and local policies and guidance through development control procedures.
More information on parks and gardens of historic interest in the borough can be found at London gardens trust.
