Allotments

An allotment is a small piece of rented land. It is often owned by a local council or a private trust. You can use the rented land to grow your own organic fruit, vegetables, and flowers. It can provide fresh, cheap produce free from harmful chemicals. It is a great way to exercise, relax, and learn new gardening skills.

Allotments can help to boost local biodiversity. They create a social space for people of all ages and backgrounds to meet and share knowledge and ideas. This can help to promote a more sustainable local food system.

How much does it cost to have a plot in Harrow?

How much you pay for your plot depends on how big your plot is. We measure a plot by "poles" (what is a pole?)

We collect rental fees for allotment plots each year. There is an extra fee for access to running water at the allotment. This is for watering crops and cleaning tools. The annual rental fee for a plot is: £7.30 per pole.

Discounted rates are available for senior citizens, students and residents receiving benefits. Benefits may include: Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Disability Living Allowance. The discounted annual rental fee for a plot is: £3.70 per pole.

Access to running water

If you want access to running water near your plot, there is an extra annual rental fee. The annual fee for running water is: £3.70 per pole.
