Freedoms granted by Harrow

Honorary Freeman

To be given the title of Honorary Freeman is the highest honour that the council can bestow. It recognises people who have made an important and outstanding contribution in service of the London Borough of Harrow. The freedom resolution is passed at a special meeting of the council and the formal presentation normally takes place at a separate occasion. A sealed and illuminated certificate of the grant of the Honorary Freedom is then usually presented to the newly appointed Honorary Freeman by the Mayor.

Honorary Alderman

A resolution may be passed at a specially convened Council meeting to confer the title of Honorary Alderman/woman to a former Councillor who has provided eminent services to the council. To find out more see our Honorary Alderman page.
