What the Harrow Early Years team do

The Harrow Early Years Team supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. This means it gives all our professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver and support a quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.

Seeing a child through from birth and early years is a huge responsibility, so you can expect the highest standards from staff that have a long history of working in the sector.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception.

What we do for childcare practitioners

The Harrow Early Years Team are here to support all early years practitioners working in childcare and early years education. High quality childcare, play opportunities and early education are crucial for young children to get the best possible start in life. The Early Years team are successfully supporting early years provisions across the borough. We have a strong professional team who are passionate about early years. We draw on a wealth of experience in order to offer support to all providers.

What we do for parents and carers

The EYFS framework gives parents and carers the confidence that regardless of what choice they make for their child’s early education, the same statutory commitments and principles will be applied. The Harrow Early Years team work with settings to ensure that they meet a high standard of education for children aged 0-5.

We work in close partnership with other childcare and early intervention services in Harrow to ensure the best possible outcomes for children. We promote school readiness across Harrow through training support, advice and guidance. You will see from our website that Harrow is proud to exhibit outstanding practice from a wide variety of settings.
