COVID-19 crisis

Harrow Council is committed to ensuring parents are not penalised due to the COVID-19 crisis and as such there will be:

  • no fines or prosecutions for non attendance due to COVID-19
  • no new fines or prosecutions from 16 March until further notice

Any fines or cases already issued prior to the COVID-19 crisis will remain valid.

Regular and punctual attendance at school is both a legal requirement and essential for pupils to maximise their educational opportunities.

If your child is absent from school, without authorisation from the school you may receive an Education Penalty Notice.

The fine is:

  • £60 if paid within 21 days
  • £120 if paid within 28 days

If the fine is not paid it may lead to a court hearing.
