Parents are encouraged to visit Gov.uk/backtoschool for information and practical guidance to help them plan for their child's return to school. This includes the latest update to the Government guidance for parents, carers on what they need to know about early year providers, schools and colleges in the autumn term.

Please also read the latest Government guidance on school attendance.

Regular and punctual attendance at school is both a legal requirement and essential for pupils to maximise their educational opportunities.

If your child is absent from school, without authorisation from the school you may receive an Education Penalty Notice.

The fine is:

  • £60 if paid within 21 days
  • £120 if paid within 28 days

If the fine is not paid it may lead to a court hearing.
