Four late-night fly-tippers who thought it would be entertaining to film themselves dumping rubbish in Harrow have been told to pay up £1,876 yesterday (5 February).

  • Four men filmed themselves dumping rubbish and posted it on Instagram
  • Video captioned ‘how to manage extra dustbins’ and ‘this is London baby’
  • Council tracks them down and takes them to court

In the early hours of 3 June 2025, the group filmed themselves dumping rubbish including a toddler’s highchair, a baby walker and other waste behind commercial bins on Crane Close. The video was captioned ‘This is London Baby’ and ‘How to manage extra dustbins’ – and even bragging that it was “2am at night”.

Their video got the attention of the council’s enforcement officers who quickly came knocking on their door the next day. One of the offenders who opened the door admitted it was him in the video and handed over his ID on the spot. Under interview all four admitted to the crime and the case was taken to court.

At Willesden Magistrates’ Court Darvin Nitinbhai Sherathiya; Mihirkumar Rajanikant Prajapati; Hitendrasinh Dilipsinh Padhiyar and Adarsh Jayantibhai Mourya were each ordered to pay £469, totalling £1,876 in all.

Cllr Pritesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Cleaner Street and Public Safety said:

“These four fly-tippers thought they could mock Harrow and the law by dumping waste illegally and filming it for entertainment - as if it was something to brag about. Thanks to the quick work by our officers, and also the suspects’ broadcasting their crime – we found them and took them to court.

“Fly-tipping isn’t just disgusting, it’s criminal and costs the taxpayer to clear. Thanks to CCTV and dedicated officers, we are finding and fining offenders who think they can leave their mess for others to clean up. I hope this case sends a strong message to others – we will find you and fine you.”

The council is now formally referring the convictions to the UK Home Office for consideration, in line with standard procedures relating to criminal convictions.

More than 4000 fines have been issued for fly-tipping over the last four years. There are other prosecutions that are ongoing in our fight against criminals dumping waste illegally on our streets. Residents are encouraged to report fly-tipping and environmental offences via the council’s website.
