DL Simon Ovens, cited Exhortation with a moment of silence before laying the wreaths.

The Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Anjana Patel said:

“It’s important to remember those brave soldiers who sacrificed so much so that we can enjoy the freedom we have today. I was honoured to visit the borough’s war memorials, reflect and pay tribute to our fallen heroes.  We will remember them today and for years and generations to come. I hope that many of you join the borough’s Remembrance Sunday services.”

This year is 106 years since the first Armistice Day commemoration in 1919. This is the first laying of wreaths and the launch of the Poppy appeal, ahead of Remembrance Sunday on 9 November. Special services will take place in Pinner, Edgware, and Harrow Town Centre on Sunday 9 November which residents are welcome to join. The service in Harrow Town Centre will also include the parade.
