Thousands of Harrow children to get free holiday club places this summer

HAF

Families in Harrow can now book free holiday activities and meals for their children through the Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) Programme, running throughout the summer school holidays.

The programme is open to children and young people from Reception to Year 11 who receive means-tested Free School Meals. Thanks to ongoing support from the DVS Foundation, additional spaces are also available for families who don’t meet the eligibility criteria but are facing other challenges.

Funded by the Department for Education and delivered through a partnership between Harrow Council and Young Harrow Foundation, HAF offers free daily sessions with a healthy hot meal included, provided by trusted local organisations.

This year’s programme includes a wide range of activities: football, cooking, drama, dance, forest school, gymnastics, music, creative arts, and more — all taking place in safe, welcoming venues across the borough.

Dan Burke, CEO of Young Harrow Foundation, said:

“The summer holidays should be something every child can look forward to. HAF gives them a space to be active, try new things and enjoy a meal with friends, all at no cost to eligible families. We’re excited to bring it back for another summer.”

Cllr Hitesh Karia, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said:

"I am committed to supporting families and young people - it’s a key priority for us. That's why I am delighted that the HAF programme is back again this summer. It's been running in Harrow for a few years now and is a fantastic way to ensure that every child, no matter their background, has the chance to enjoy the school holidays, stay active, and connect with their community. By working together with Harrow Young Foundation, we're putting our residents first and supporting those in need of help.”

Booking is now open, and spaces are limited. Families are encouraged to book early to avoid missing out.
