Yesterday, the world saw the devastating news about a London bound Air India flight from Ahmedabad.

More than 200 people tragically lost their lives just seconds after taking off. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident and loss of life – and also those anxiously awaiting news.

We know this may impact our Indian residents in Harrow who have links to the region and may know friends and family in the area. If you are affected or have concerned please see contact the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on 0207-008-5000.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Paul Osborn said:

On behalf of Harrow, I want to share my condolences to all those affected by the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad.

My thoughts are with the families who have lost a loved one, and those still anxiously waiting.

I know this tragic event will be felt deeply here in Harrow, not least by our British Indian community who will have strong ties to the region and may know a family member or friend affected.  If you are affected, please follow the government advice.

We are in touch with our community and faith leaders in Harrow, and together we remember and grieve the tragic loss of life. I encourage people to join Harrow Interfaith’ s memorial service taking place tomorrow.
