On Thursday 15 May, we say thank you to outgoing Mayor, Cllr Salim Chowdhury. It’s been a busy year for him, and as his mayoral year comes to an end, we look back at his time in office.
From the big civic events, to the smaller community events, Mr Mayor has been to all corners of the borough championing his theme of unity and diversity attending more than 700 engagements.
Some of his highlights include Remembrance Sunday, Harrow’s Heroes awards, visiting schools and care homes. During his term, he has spent time supporting his chosen Charity London Community Kitchen. We’d like to thank everyone who donated to his chosen charity, which helps residents struggling with food poverty. You can still donate to London Community Kitchen at www.harrow.gov.uk/mayor
Mayor Cllr Chowdhury said:
“It’s been an incredible year and I want to thank everyone who made my mayoral year special.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting residents from all corners of Harrow. I had the pleasure to join people from all backgrounds and faiths and celebrate with them on their holy days. Everyone I have spoken to has an inspiring story and I am proud to live among people and groups who make Harrow a special place.
“Thank you to everyone who has also supported my chosen charity London Community Kitchen.
“I now look forward to continuing to meet people in the community and support residents as I go back into my role as Cllr for the Centenary Ward. Finally, I would like to wish the incoming Mayor the very best.”
Thank you, Mr Mayor, Cllr Salim Chowdhury, for an incredible year of service!
