Bringing the recycling centre closer to you

Getting rid of waste and recycling in Harrow just got easier.

  • Get rid of your recycling, bulky items, electricals, and more
  • First event takes place in North Harrow

We’re bringing the recycling centre into our communities to help people get rid of their waste and recycling, bulky waste, and small electrical items.

Each month on a weekend, we’ll set up a ‘’Drop and Go event’ in different wards to help residents recycle better, reduce fly-tipping and keep our borough clean. During these events residents can pick up a free food waste caddy and liner, sign up for Garden Waste and find out more about our Bulky Waste service.

The first event takes place at Cambridge Road Car Park on Saturday 3 May, 10am to 2pm. Residents will need to present their proof of ID the same way they visit the recycling centre and can bring up to five items on the day.

Cllr Stephen Greek, Cabinet Member for Performance, Communications and Customer Experience said:

“We’re helping residents do the right thing when it comes to waste and recycling. We’ve recently doubled the number of bulky waste bookings, and now we’re going further by taking the recycling centre into the community.

“During out drop and go events, residents will also get to take food waste bins and bio bags, as well as information and advice on good waste management. It’s our way of putting residents first – by giving them more options, and better access to our services. We’re hopeful that these events will help to reduce fly-tipping.”

This is linked to our Flagship Action set out in the corporate plan to increase recycling to 35%, while restore pride in Harrow and keeping our borough clean and safe.
