The way we hand in postal votes has changed

Postal vote

If you are voting by post, please be aware that the following rules now apply when handing in postal votes:

  • Political campaigners cannot hand in postal votes, except where the postal vote is their own, someone they provide regular care for or their spouse or civil partner.
  • There will be a limit on the number of postal votes a person can hand in at a polling station and to the Council Offices
    • they will not be allowed to hand in more than five postal ballot packs for other electors plus their own.
  • Anyone handing in postal votes will need to complete a ‘return of postal voting documents’ form which will have to be countersigned by a Member of the Electoral Services Team. This means that postal votes will be rejected if these requirements are not.
  • Postal votes placed in the Royal Mail postbox are unaffected by this change
