Harrow Leisure Centre pools and sauna closed for essential repairs

HLC

The swimming pools and sauna at Harrow Leisure Centre have been closed for essential repairs from today (Thursday 21 March).

  • Due to essential ceiling repairs, Harrow Leisure swimming pools and sauna have closed with immediate effect.

  • Further investigations will be undertaken to identify all works needed.

  • All other services will operate as normal.

A recent building inspection found most of the leisure centre building to be in good condition. However, it highlighted concerns with the ceiling above the swimming pool. The London Borough of Harrow and Everyone Active have therefore decided to close the swimming pools and sauna (accessed via the pool area) from 4pm today.

Specialist contractors will carry out further investigations to identify the repairs needed.

Corporate Director of Place, Dipti Patel said:

“We understand the inconvenience this will cause many people who use our pools and sauna, especially as we start the Easter holidays. This isn’t a decision we have taken lightly – the safety of people is our priority.

“We are working closely with our partners and contractors to ensure the investigations and repairs are done in a timely manner. At this moment, we cannot confirm the reopening date of the swimming pools and sauna but will know more details in coming weeks.

“We will keep everyone updated and appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we undertake this work.”

Every effort will be made by Everyone Active to provide alternative swimming provisions. Details will be made available on their website.

Regular updates will be shared on the council and Everyone Active website, in the MyHarrow newsletter and by emails to Members.

All other services remain open at Harrow Leisure Centre.
