Let us take care of your Garden Waste – sign ups start later this month

Gardening - grass cutting

With Spring around the corner, it’s time to think about your garden waste.

You can now sign up for the 2024/25 annual service. The reliable all year-round subscription costs £69 this year – that’s £2.76 per collection.

We’ve had to make a small increase to the price by £4 this year due to rising costs.

Subscribers on Council Tax Support will be £34.50.

For those already on Direct Debit, you can sit back and relax – your subscription will renew in April.

You can pay online at www.harrow.gov.uk/gardenwaste - or for ease of mind, why not consider subscribing on Direct Debit so that it renews in March.

If you wish your service to start in April, you need to sign up by Sunday 17 March.

Once subscribed, you’ll get a letter before the start of your 2024 service with further information and a new sticker to put onto your brown bin. These are sent out around the end of March 2024.

Cllr Stephen Greek, Cabinet Member for Performance, Communications and Customer Experience said:

“By choosing our garden waste service, you’re helping protect the environment and divert money to essential services.

“Thousands of people benefit from our all year round service where your garden waste is collected, processed and turned into compost to be reused on farms, parks and gardens.

"Due to rising costs this year, we’ve had to take the difficult decision to make a small increase, but have tried to keep this to a minimum and offer good value to residents. At £69 this works out at £2.76 per collection.

“Once you’re signed up, leave the rest to our teams who’ll collect your garden waste on your usual collection day.”

If you’re wondering what we do with your garden waste after we collected it here’s what happens:

  • It’s taken to a specialist facility
  • Here it’s composted and then used on farms, parks and gardens.
