Joseph Coelho's Library Marathon
We were delighted that Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho visited Stanmore Library earlier this year. It was part of his epic Library Marathon tour of the UK. We would like to say a huge thank you to him and the BookTrust for a fantastic time.
Coelho has won awards for performing poetry. He has also won them for writing plays and for authoring children’s books. He aims to join a library in every authority across the UK.
He wants to support libraries and their role in our local communities.
The ‘Library Marathon’ is one of three major initiatives run by the Waterstones Children’s Laureate. BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, manages the initiatives.
Coelho runs 'Poetry Prompts' online and 'Bookmaker Like You' campaigns. They celebrate poetry. They showcase diverse talent in publishing. They aim to help children see themselves as potential bookmakers.
