Grants to move scheme

The London Borough of Harrow has introduced a Grant to Move Scheme which is available to all Council housing tenants subject to eligibility.

What is the Grant to Move Scheme?

It is a scheme where The London Borough of Harrow can provide financial assistance to eligible council tenants who want to buy a property and give up their council tenants.

New-build and refurbished properties are eligible for a limited deposit contribution of 5% of the property value. This also applies to new-build shared ownership homes and some refurbished homes. This is in line with CML/UK Finance incentive disclosure practices.

New Build and New Build Shared Ownership Schemes

We will offer 5% of the value of a share in a new build London Borough of Harrow shared ownership scheme property or any other new build property as a deposit towards the purchase.

This amount will be capped at £30,000

For all non-new build homes and non-refurbished (Newley registered homes) There are two options:

Non-New Build Shared Ownership

We will offer 10% of the value of a share in a shared ownership scheme managed by another social landlord. This will only apply if the property is not a new build or refurbished (newly registered) This amount will be capped at a maximum of £25,000.

Open Market

We will offer 10% of the purchase price of any property being bought on the open market within England - capped at a maximum of £25,000.
