Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed your baby and has health benefits for the mother too.  Exclusive breastfeeding (giving your baby breast milk only) is recommended for the first six months of your baby's life.  After that, giving your baby breast milk with other food will help them grow, develop, stay healthy and have strong emotional bonds.

Breastfeeding support group

The breastfeeding support group promotes breastfeeding and provides support to mothers and babies in hospitals, primary care and in the community care settings.

The support group in Harrow provides support, information and guidance to new mums, to help them to start and maintain breastfeeding. They have a network of trained, peer supporters (volunteers) at Hillview and Cedars children's centres and within the community. The team also promote breastfeeding in the community and link their work with hospital staff, community midwives, health visitors and GPs. They can offer multilingual support to service users and run sessions at nine sites across Harrow.
