Briefing for candidates and agents
A candidates and agents briefing will be held on Tuesday 17 March 2026 at 6pm. This session is designed to support agents and candidates standing for election to the London Borough of Harrow Council and will be of help to both experienced and new candidates and agents and all are encouraged to attend.
The briefing will last approximately one hour and will cover:
- What is means being a councillor
- Key dates of the election timetable
- Step by step guidance on how to complete and submit a nomination paper
- Campaigning do’s and don’ts
The briefing will take place at the Harrow Council Hub, Forward Drive, Harrow, HA3 8FL but this will also by hybrid so you can join via Microsoft Teams if you cannot attend in person.

Nominations
The Notice of Election will be published on Friday 27 March 2026. Nomination papers must be delivered, by hand, to the London Borough of Harrow’s office (Forward Drive, Harrow, HA3 8FL) between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Nominations must be received by 4pm on Thursday 9 April 2026.

Who can stand as a councillor
To be able to stand as a candidate in the local elections you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, a qualifying EU citizen or an EU citizen with retained rights.
And, meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- You are, and will continue to be, registered as a local government elector in Harrow from the day of your nomination onwards
- You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in Harrow during the whole of the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election
- Your main or only place of work during the 12 months prior to the day of your nomination and the day of the election has been in Harrow.
You have lived in Harrow during the whole of the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election
