If you were born on or before 26th September 1956 you could get between £250 and £600 to help you pay your heating bills.
Most payments are made automatically in November or December. You should be paid by 13 January 2023.
The Winter Fuel Payment is aimed at residents who are: long-term ill, disabled and/or are of state pension age.
Am I eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment?
To be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment you must be receiving one of the following:
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- Income Support based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income support based Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
You should receive the Winter Fuel Payment automatically if you receive one of the benefits mentioned above.
Any money you get towards your heating bill will not affect any other benefits.
