NHS health checks
The NHS health check is a free health assessment for people between the ages of 40-74 years who do not have an existing cardiovascular disease. The purpose of the health check is to prevent chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, stroke and dementia.
The health check is an opportunity to prevent future health problems and to get advice and guidance on how to make healthy changes now. It consists of a health questionnaire and three or four basic health tests - cholesterol test, measuring Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure and a diabetes risk assessment (which may lead to further tests).
The results are ordinarily received at the same time of the test and you will be given personalised health advice . Sometimes more testing may be needed which will require more time.
In Harrow NHS Health Checks are delivered at Harrow Leisure Centre. To find out if you are eligible please contact Harrow Leisure Centre.
