Harrow Health walks

Volunteer with us

Our volunteers are at the very heart of Harrow Health Walks. As a volunteer, you’ll help people in your community to get active and healthy. You'll provide vital support that they otherwise might not get.

Our volunteers love their roles. They tell us great stories about how much they enjoy helping others to get active and get walking.

You'll stay active, develop your leadership skills, get to know your local area and meet lots of new people.

Walk Leader

As a walk leader, you’ll be helping people in your community to get active and healthy, providing vital support that they otherwise might not get. As well as ensuring walks are friendly, safe and well run, walk leaders are also our ambassadors for walking, Harrow Health Walks and Ramblers Wellbeing Walks.- You can show people that walking can make a big difference to their lives.

Tasks include risk-assessing and recceing routes as well as leading and managing walks.

You can learn more about on role on Volunteer Wellbeing Walks Leader.

Walk Assistant

If you’d like to help, but don’t want to be a leader, then taking on an assistant role could be for you. Particularly on larger walks, it can be great for walk leaders to have a helping hand in welcoming the walkers and making sure that the paperwork is completed. It’s also great for the walkers to have an extra person to talk to when they’re out and about on the walks.

You can learn more about on role on Volunteer Wellbeing Walks Assistant.

Training

Training for both roles involves:

  • A 90-minute e-learning provided by the Ramblers
  • An opportunity to shadow one of our walks
  • A three-hour face-to-face or online training session
