Photography competition

Did you know that the main image of our homepage changes depending on your current location?

For example if you are visiting the website while located in the HA5 postcode, you will likely see a photo of Pinner. Also depending on the time of your visit you will either see a daytime or an evening photo!

Competition guidelines

For your chance to get your photo featured on our website, there are a few things you should know:

What is the theme?

The theme of this competition is "Harrow in full bloom."

What is the closing date?

The closing date for your photo submissions has now past. We will aim to publish the winning photographs the week commencing 14th June 2021.

What are the optimal dimensions of the photo?

All photos are displayed on our website with the dimensions of 2696 by 1106 pixels and the photo aspect ratio should be 16:9 (horizontal).

What kind of photos should I submit?

We are looking for both daytime and evening shots of areas only within Harrow Borough although you do not need to take both (see our postcode guide).

If you prefer you may submit just daytime photos, and they do not need to be in the same location.

Due to the current restrictions we advise that you take photos in parks, open spaces and areas where there is plenty of space between yourself and others.

If you are a young photographer please ensure that you are accompanied by an adult if you want to take some photos especially at night.

There should not be any faces recognisable in the photos, advertising (including telephone numbers) or vehicle registration numbers. Please try and blur these out of the photo.

What else do I need to know?

When you submit your photo be aware that some areas of the photo will be covered by our web elements.

You will need to take this into account when taking your photos. You may want to make sure your key subject fits into the 'hotspot' area.

We have created a template that you can download. It shows how your photo could look on our website with the web elements layered on top.

It is also worth noting that your photo will only be displayed on desktop and tablet versions of our website.
