Harrow has officially appointed Cllr Yogesh Teli as the New Mayor of Harrow.
A long serving councillor for Edgware, Cllr Teli was first elected in 2006 and now serving his fourth term. Throughout his time as a councillor, he has worked tirelessly to support residents and his local community.
In his new role as Mayor, he will act as the borough’s First Citizen, representing Harrow at civic and ceremonial occasions, celebrating its rich diversity, and bringing communities together.
Councillor Teli’s journey into politics and public service started when he set up a residents’ association in 2005 to help local people with their issues. Alongside his council work, he has been actively involved in charity work, including running the Ashiana Charity Trust, supporting children and families, and fundraising for good causes.
His chosen charities for his mayoral year are:
-
Kids Can Achieve
-
Great Ormond Street Hospital
Both causes are close to his heart due to his longstanding support for children and families in need.
Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Yogesh Teli, said:
“It is a great honour to serve as the Mayor of Harrow. I am proud to represent a borough that is rich in diversity, compassion and community spirit.
My theme for the year is to Love, Serve and Unite All. I want to support our residents in every way I can, bring greater awareness to the charities I care deeply about, and celebrate the many achievements and contributions of people across our borough. I look forward to meeting many residents and groups over the next 12 months.”
He will be accompanied by the Mayoress Neela Teli.
