Alex Dewsnap named as Harrow’s new Managing Director

Harrow Council has confirmed the appointment of Alex Dewsnap as its Managing Director (Head of Paid Service).

Alex has held a number of director positions in Harrow since joining in 2009, most recently Director of Resources and Transformation.

Leader of Harrow Council, Cllr Paul Osborn, said,

“Alex’s appointment offers us an important continuity - he has been a great servant to Harrow, and I know colleagues and partners alike will welcome this news.

“Like them, I’ve worked with Alex over a number of years and am especially grateful for the support he’s offered our administration since last May’s election.

“His knowledge of the business, his energy, positivity and collegiate style are all tremendous assets and I look forward to tackling the big issues that lie ahead together.

“We have a positive mandate for change in Harrow. I want ours to be a council that puts residents first in all that we do, and I am very confident that Alex can help us to realise that ambition.”

Newly appointed Managing Director, Alex Dewsnap, said,

“I’m hugely grateful to have been given this opportunity to serve the residents of Harrow. Ours is a very dynamic and diverse borough, and I take on this new role fully committed to its future.

“I’m passionate about the role local government and partners can play in our communities, and I know we’re all equally committed to improving the lives of those who live, work and study in Harrow.

“I’m proud to be continuing the good work we’ve started - there are still many challenges, but we have a clear plan for the future of the council. I am fully focused on our vision of restoring pride in Harrow and leading a high-performing, resident-centric organisation.”

Alex’s appointment was confirmed at last night’s meeting of Harrow’s Council. He takes over from Pat Flaherty, who was recently confirmed as the new Chief Executive of Staffordshire County Council. Pat said,

“I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate Alex on his appointment. His long-standing knowledge of Harrow, its people, our partners and staff are an enormous advantage. I wish him all the very best for the future and every success in his new role."
