The new school term and autumnal weather are upon us. As many settle back into routines after summer breaks, our weekly MyHarrow News is back from today with our fix of what's going on in the borough.
Cost of Living
Top of the MyHarrow News agenda is cost of living, as people's concerns escalate about how it will impact their families and businesses.
New Prime Minister Liz Truss announced this morning plans to limit rising energy costs, freezing bills at an average of £2,500 a year for the next two years. The measures will also limit the costs for businesses, charities, schools and colleges.
It has already been announced that millions of the most vulnerable households will get £1,200 of one-off support this year to help with their energy bills, with all domestic customers also receiving a discount of £400 over six months.
We are here for our Harrow residents and businesses and keen to explain what help is and will be available.
We are holding a cost of living emergency summit for the people of Harrow on 6 October. It will be available online as well to attend in person - more details will be available shortly.
The Harrow Voluntary Action charity has also launched a fundraising page for people who would like to help those less fortunate. This fund is open to organisations, including food banks, to help those in Harrow most affected by the rising cost of living.
Emergency Services Day
Tomorrow is Emergency Services Day, or 999 Day - an annual event to encourage people to use the emergency services responsibly and to say we appreciate all that the men and women who serve do for us.
We will be raising a flag at the Civic Centre to join in raising awareness.
It is also a good time to remind you that you can meet your local police officers at Harrow Town Centre.
For any concerns about crime you'd like to talk about or if you want some advice to stay safe, they're patrolling 7 days a week and have an information stall opposite Primark.
Pinner Village Show
On a final note, please don't forget the annual family Village Show in my Pinner ward on Saturday.
The Pinner Rotary event takes place in Pinner Memorial Park on Saturday, 11.30am-5pm - with live entertainment, children's rides and activities, stalls, food and a licensed bar. Please do make the most of our wonderful community outdoor days and have lots of fun.
