Update on Council Tax rebate

We know that many of you are wondering when you will get you your £150 energy rebate.

We apologise for the delay in payment caused by a technical error however we have been testing a software to enable us to pay the £150 energy rebate as soon as possible.

For direct debit payers we are hopeful that payments will be processed the week commencing Monday 16 May. We will issue an update early next week.

For those who do not pay Council Tax by Direct Debit, and any households where the responsible person for Council tax does not match the name of the bank account given to Harrow previously, we will be carrying out checks to validate the bank accounts supplied. You will receive a mailshot to confirm your details in late May, and once confirmed payment is expected by the end of June.

This is a requirement from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Payment will follow shortly thereafter but if there are exceptions from this cohort, then for those exceptions it may take 12 weeks or more for payments to reach bank accounts from the date bank details are supplied.

For those non direct debit payers who either do not reply or have opted to have their award paid into their council tax account, payment will be made to their Council Tax account automatically without them having to do anything.

Once processed you will receive a letter confirming the £150 rebate.

You can read the full details on the council tax rebate page.
