How to add the School Waiting list service

  • You will need valid school waiting list reference number to link your account.
  • If you have submitted a new Primary/Secondary school application, the reference number will be in the following format xxx-xxxx-09-x-xxxxxx.
  • If you have submitted an In year school admission application, the reference number will be in the following format 310-xxxx-xx-K-xxxxxx.
  • Please make sure that the parent's name and address that is registered to the Child's waiting list, is the same parent's name and address that is registered to your MyHarrow Account. This must be an exact match.
  • If you need to update your address details, click on the drop-down menu in the top right and select 'My Account'.

Support to add the service

If you cannot add the service, try checking the following:

1. Check that your address is correct

The address on your MyHarrow Account must be the same as the address registered to the Child's waiting list. If you have moved, you will need to tell the School Admissions team.

If you need to update your address details, click on the drop-down menu in the top right and select 'My Account'.

2. Check that your name is correct

This must be an exact match of the name registered to the Child's waiting list. If there is any difference, for example a variation in spelling, correct it by clicking on the drop-down menu in the top right and selecting 'My Account'.

You cannot add the service if you are not the parent or carer named on the application. The named person will need to add it to their own MyHarrow Account.

3. Check that the School Reference Number is correct

You must wait for your School Reference Number before you can link to this service. This is different to the application number and may be sent to you up to 30 school days after your application.

Old reference numbers will not work. New reference numbers are sent to Reception and 11+ applicants for each new academic year.

If you have submitted a new Primary/Secondary school application, the reference number will be in the following format: xxx-xxxx-09-x-xxxxxx.

If you have submitted an In year school admission application, the reference number will be in the following format: 310-xxxx-xx-K-xxxxxx.

My school reference number isn't recognised on MyHarrow Account

You must wait for your School Reference Number before you can link to this service. This is different to the application number and may be sent to you up to 30 school days after your application.

If you have followed the above instructions, and you still cannot add the service to your account, please contact the school admissions team.

School waiting list FAQs

How do I apply for a school place?

You can apply for a school place on our Apply for a school place page.

To apply for a place during a school year, see Apply for an in-year school place.

Why has my child’s position on the waiting list changed?

A child's position on the waiting list is not static. They can move up the waiting list if a place is offered to the child at the top of the waiting list causing all other children to move up the list or if a child with a higher priority is removed from the waiting list.

However, it is also possible to move down the waiting list if another family with a higher priority under the admission arrangements asks for their child to go on the waiting list.

How long will it take for a space to become available for my child?

We are unable to advise how long it may take for a school place to become available for your child, as it depends on the movements of children within the school. If a place becomes available for your child we will send you a letter

Do I need to renew my child’s waiting list?

Your child will remain on the waiting list for the remainder of the academic year. We will then contact you at the end of the summer term to confirm if you would like this to continue over the following academic year.

How will I know if there is a space for my child in my preferred school?

If a school place becomes available from the waiting list for your child an offer letter will be sent to advise you.

How is my child’s waiting list position worked out?

Your child’s waiting list position is determined by the published admissions arrangements.

Please be aware that admissions criteria for some schools (e.g. faith Schools) can be different to other schools.

How can I place my child on the waiting list for another school?

If you would like to add your child to the waiting list please contact our admission team at schooladmissions@harrow.gov.uk with your child’s name, date of birth and the name of the school.

Why is the position showing as 0?

We do not hold waiting list information for all schools. Some schools maintain their own waiting lists and are excluded from this online service. If you continue to subscribe the waiting list position will be shown as '0'.
