St Lawrence Church

The Grade 1 listed St Lawrence Church is one of the borough's truly hidden gems. Although fairly innocuous from the outside, step inside and you will discover a stunning, baroque interior.
The ornate walls and ceilings were painted by French artist Laguerre and there are also famous wood carvings by Grinling Gibbons. St Lawrence Church played host to Handel when he was resident composer to the Duke of Chandos. The organ can still be visited as can the adjoining mausoleum to the Duke of Chandos.
Mark the 250th anniversary of Handel's death in 2009
