Harrow's most famous landmark, St Mary's Church proudly sits 200 feet above the surrounding plain. The interior of the church contains a 17th century carved wood pulpit and 19th century stained glass windows which illustrate the history of the Parish church and Harrow School.
The churchyard is famous for being associated with Lord Byron, who sought inspiration from the tombstone of John Peachey, an old Harrow resident. A memorial in Byron's honour can now be visited at the Peachey stone. A thousand year old skeleton was also found in the grounds of the church.
