Introduction
Members of the European Parliament
London MEPs represent the entire city rather than local constituencies. In 2009, eight MEPs were elected for London (three Conservative, two Labour, one Liberal Democrat, one Green and one UKIP). MEPs are under an obligation to represent constituents regardless of political persuasion at the European Parliament.
European elections are held every five years, with the last one being held on 22 May 2014. The results were declared on 25 May 2014.
