To determine the length of yellow lines required, we use the Highway Code guidance as a starting point. It states:

"DO NOT stop or park:-

• anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services;
• opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space;
• in front of an entrance to a property;
• on a bend"

We adjust the length of the yellow lines depending on the actual layout of the site.  We can model the turning movement of a refuse vehicle which needs a similar amount of room as a fire engine.
