It pays to have a carbon monoxide detector!

Occupants of a property in Harrow had a lucky escape recently – all thanks to having a working carbon monoxide alarm.

Earlier this month, smoke from Shisha (coming from next door) set CO readings off the scale triggering the alarm to go off. If it weren’t for the alarm, the gas that has no smell or taste could have killed them.

It’s a reminder that having Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms can save lives. It’s highly recommended especially if there happens to be a CO leak during the night.

Every year there are around 25 deaths from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning in England and Wales. If you have an alarm, make sure you check the batteries every so often so you know it is working.

It’s also important to note that coals (whether barbeque or shisha etc) should never be taken inside a building. Coals still give off high levels of Carbon Monoxide even after they have been lit.
