New Chief Executive appointed

Harrow Council has confirmed the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Sean Harriss.

Sean served as Chief Executive of Bolton Council for eight years, where he was instrumental in helping to secure significant devolution for the Greater Manchester region. In 2015 he became Chief Executive at the London Borough of Lambeth. Most recently he’s served as CEO of the London shared service oneSource.

Cllr Graham Henson, Leader of Harrow Council, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Sean. He’s a talented and experienced chief executive with an impressive track record. Sean is a great fit for Harrow – his ambition and energy will help our high-achieving borough go even further and I very much look forward to working with him.”

Sean Harriss, said: “I’m very pleased to have been selected as Harrow’s new Chief Executive and look forward to taking up my post. I’m eager to get to know the borough better and get stuck in to the work ahead.”

Sean’s appointment was confirmed at a meeting of Council on 29 November. He is set to take up his post on 4 February 2019. Sean will take over from Tom Whiting, who has served as interim Chief Executive for the last 12 months. Tom will be leaving Harrow Council after 14 years to join the Independent Office for Police Conduct as Deputy Director General.
