Nominations open for 10th annual Harrow’s Heroes awards

It’s time to give our local heroes a moment in the spotlight and nominate them for this year’s awards.

We all know someone who gives up their time for their community or neighbours ¬- now it’s time to nominate them for a Harrow’s Heroes Award.

This year we celebrate a fantastic 10 years of Harrow’s Heroes, and for the first time, the awards are open to anyone who has made a huge contribution to our borough and its residents.

The awards give special recognition to the amazing people who make Harrow a better place to live and work. These are our heroes who sacrifice their time and energy or go above and beyond their call of duty to help improve the lives of others.

From our volunteers, scouts, mentors, and litter pickers to our teachers, emergency services and armed forces there are thousands of selfless people who live or work in Harrow making a huge difference - often without the recognition they deserve. Now is your chance to give them their moment in the spotlight.

Portfolio Holder for Community, Culture and Resident Engagement, Councillor Sue Anderson said:

“Our awards are an opportunity for everyone to get behind our local heroes and thank them for making Harrow a special place to live and work.

“This year, we are celebrating 10 years of Harrow’s Heroes and we have opened the awards to the wider community which will capture a true picture of how great our borough is.

“We have an army of local heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make a real difference to others and their community – and sometimes it’s life changing. We want to hear their stories and give them the recognition they truly deserve.

“If you know a person or group who has gone above and beyond to help your community, nominate them now.”

On Saturday 3rd June, come along to our launch event in Harrow Town Centre between 11.30am and 2pm where you can find out more about the awards and how to nominate.

We can also help you fill out the forms during National Volunteering Week between June 1 and June 12. Just come along to any of the dates where staff will be available to help.  Deatials are on the Harrow's Heroes section of the website.

Winners will be chosen by a specially selected panel of judges and presented with awards at a grand ceremony in September at the Kadwa Patidar Centre.
