Labour’s Maxine Henson elected councillor for Roxbourne

Maxine Henson was today announced as the winner of yesterday’s by-election in Roxbourne Ward, holding the seat for Labour.

She received 1,554 votes, ahead of 533 votes for Conservative Annabel Singh, 240 votes for Liberal Democrat Marshel Amutharasan and 148 votes for UKIP’s Herbert Crossman. The turnout was 26.3%.

The by-election occurred following the death of veteran Labour councillor and former Harrow Mayor Bob Currie.

Cllr Maxine Henson said:

“I am proud that the people of Roxbourne have chosen me to be their champion, and I hope to do justice to Bob’s great legacy here. Thank you to my supporters. I will continue to do what I have always done, which is to keep on building a better Harrow; work to improve the lives of my constituents; and be a champion for South Harrow.”
