Harrow’s free adult cycle skill sessions now open to allAlmost a thousand local residents are now cycling their way around the borough thanks to Harrow Council’s free cycle adult skill sessions – and you could join them.
With spring here, it’s a great time to get your bike out and enjoy the fresh air. If you’re a beginner or looking to grow your confidence on the road, Harrow’s adult skill sessions are a great way of learning to ride safely.
Portfolio holder for Public Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Varsha Parmar said:
“Cycling is one of the most enjoyable fitness activities you can do - whether you do it as a hobby or to commute to work, college or school, it is important to ride safely. Our sessions can help get you out there with confidence – and take some of the traffic off Harrow’s roads.”
Anyone working, living or studying in the borough can book a free cycle skills session. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a bike you can borrow one.
Married couple Kanchan and Ramesh are just two of our happy new cyclists.
“Neither of us had ridden a bike before attending adult cycle skill sessions in Harrow. The instructors are very patient! Within just a few sessions we were cycling unaided; we’d learned to corner and to brake. Now we’re working on riding one-handed. We’re given the time and space to improve at our own pace and soon we’ll be confident and qualified road riders. We can’t wait!”
