Harrow pupils deliver record GCSE results

Published 30th August 11

Harrow’s GCSE results have soared for the seventh year running, with an excellent 81% of year 11 pupils achieving five or more A*-C grades.

Provisional results show that over 64% of Harrow students achieved the national benchmark of 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, a 3% increase on 2010 and Harrow 's best ever result. A number of schools have achieved their best individual results.

The number of students achieving at least five A*-C grades in any combination of subjects increase from 78% to 81%.

Cllr Brian Gate, portfolio holder for schools and colleges on Harrow Council, said:

"Congratulations to all of our pupils for their success in another record breaking year for Harrow 's Year 11s.

"They have worked incredibly hard and great credit must also go to the teachers and parents for their encouragement and support. We are also very proud of the students at Kingsley and Shaftesbury High Schools who have achieved excellent results outside of mainstream education.

"I wish all of the pupils the very best for the future."

Schools have released their provisional figures. These will not be finally confirmed until later in this school year. The LA average takes into account students in all settings. Individual schools' provisional figures are as follows:
