After two years in the making, work is set to begin this month on the multi-million pound Cedars Youth and Community Centre on the Cedars Estate in Harrow Weald.
Watford FC's Community Sports and Education Trust working with Harrow Council, has secured a grant from the government's MyPlace programme to fund the project in full. This week they will announce the appointment of Farnrise Construction Ltd to build the centre which is due to open in late 2011.
It has been designed following extensive consultation with nearby residents and young people, and will feature an all-weather football pitch, sports hall, gym and climbing wall, as well as IT facilities, café and space for arts, craft music and drama. The building is packed full of eco-friendly features, offers lots of versatile space for the whole community and was designed to by LOM Architecture and Design.
