Harrow's Vision Scrutinised

Published 14th December 07

Harrow Council's ambitious vision for the year has been closely scrutinised by an independent committee of councillors.

Earlier this week (Tuesday 11th December) the Overview and Scrutiny Committee asked the Deputy Leader and Chief Executive a number of detailed questions on the 'Year Ahead Statement 2007/08'.

This 'vision' statement sums up the council's priorities for the next financial year and was agreed at November's Cabinet meeting following consultation with local people.

Scrutiny Chairman Councillor Stanley Sheinwald said:

"Our role in scrutiny is to forensically examine these activities to make sure that these bold aims are now delivered so that residents get the clean, safe streets, they have asked for and services provided with strong value for money.

"This was a very constructive session and a number of issues important to residents were raised and we look forward to receiving more detailed answers in writing."
