MyPlace - Cedars Youth and Community Centre

Introduction

A brand new £4.2 million youth centre, called Cedars Youth and Community Centre, is being built on the Cedars Estate in Harrow Weald as part of a partnership between Harrow Council and Watford Football Club's Community Sports and Education Trust.

Facilities will include a brand-new multi-use sports hall, gymnasium, IT suite, art room, recording studio together with a cafe, play equipment for younger children and multi-use outdoor pitch.

The project is being managed by Watford Football Club's Community Sports and Education Trust and Harrow Council, together with other local organisations.

Harrow Council gave formal planning approval for the scheme on 4 February 2010 more about planning application

The scheme is being funded by £4.2m from the Department for Education (Formerly the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)).

Cllr Mitzi Green, Harrow Council's portfolio holder for children's services, said: "This is excellent news for people of all ages in Harrow Weald and in particular a huge boost for young people in the area. We couldn't have done this without the help of Watford FC.

"Residents have played a key role, working with the council and Watford FC to design this world class youth and community facility."

Work will now start on the site and the centre is expected to open its doors in approximately October 2011.
