MyPlace - Cedars Youth and Community Centre

Introduction

A brand new £4.2 million youth centre, called Cedars Youth and Community Centre, is being built on the Cedars Estate in Harrow Weald as part of a partnership between Harrow Council and Watford Football Club.

Facilities will include a brand-new multi-use sports hall, gymnasium, IT suite, art room, recording studio together with a cafe and multi-use outdoor pitch.

The project is being managed by Watford Football Club's Community Sports and Education Trust and Harrow Council, together with other local organisations.

Harrow Council gave formal planning approval for the scheme on 4 February 2010 more about planning application

The scheme is being funded by £4.2m from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

Cllr Christine Bednell, Harrow Council's portfolio holder for children's services, said: "Local people have played a key role in designing this centre and their contribution has meant we have come up with a fantastic project.

"The Cedars Youth Centre will not only be a first class facility for sport but will serve local residents for all sorts of other courses and events. I'm confident local residents of all ages will enjoy it."

Work will now start on the site and the centre is expected to open its doors in Summer 2011.
